Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use FilmSquare with a parent or guardian’s permission.

Your account

Sign-in is passwordless: we email you a code, or you use Google. Keep access to your email secure — anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed it.

Pick a display name that is not offensive, not impersonating someone, and not advertising. We may change or remove names that break this rule.

Fair play

Leaderboards only mean something if people play honestly. Do not:

• Submit times you did not actually earn, or tamper with what the site sends us.
• Automate solving, or use scripts or bots to play.
• Create multiple accounts to occupy more leaderboard places.
• Try to break, overload, or probe the site's security.
• Scrape puzzle content in bulk or republish it as your own.

Solves that used Check or Reveal are saved to your history but excluded from rankings. We may remove entries or accounts that we reasonably believe are cheating.

Puzzle content

Puzzles, clues, and site design belong to Zachary Saffran. You are welcome to play them, share your results, and link to the site. You may not republish puzzles, sell them, or use them to train models without permission.

Movie data and poster images come from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Those materials remain the property of their respective owners.

Third-party content and advertising

The site may link to, embed, or display content from third parties, including movie information and imagery, and may display advertising. We do not control that content and are not responsible for it or for the practices of the sites it leads to. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them. Where advertising is shown, how it uses your information is described in our Privacy Policy.

Availability

FilmSquare is free and provided as-is. There is no uptime guarantee. We may change, pause, or shut down the site or any feature at any time, and puzzles may occasionally be late, wrong, or missing. We will try to give notice before anything that would lose your data, but cannot promise it.

Ending your access

You can stop using FilmSquare at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, and may do so without notice where the breach is serious.

Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, FilmSquare is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost puzzle streaks. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us — which is nothing — or ten US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules, and disputes will be heard in the courts located there.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the last change, and continuing to use the site afterwards means you accept the new version. If a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you in the app.
